Final Posting "Delicious Live Foods" Book

Drum roll....finally Done! So when I initially came up with the idea to work on this "live food" project I figured it would be fun and not to hard. I was wrong, I spent so many hours on this project I have lost count. It turned out alright, kinda silly. I think I would still like to try and get it printed out so I can have a hard copy for myself, and to see how it transfers to paper. It is dimensionally able to be printed pamphlet style, although I couldn't figure out how to upload images onto blog in such a manner.
Thanks Miles! Fun class...for the most part, and I really learned a boatload.

I'm not exactly sure why this Image is so interesting to me, but it is. This washed out close up of dead grass, makes me feel sad, maybe that's why.

I think close up shots of everyday things can be really great...especially when they are so close the viewer has no idea what they are looking at.

This turned out great! I took a photo and used it as a guide in photo-shop. The end result virtually erased the actual photo. Fun stuff!

So this is an image I looked at this week while exploring festival posters out there.

Poster #3 "personal works" Wk5

This poster had a lot of direction. It follows the guidelines for a festival poster entry, although I didn't enter the poster.
The background is a simple painting print, with overlays of text. I really like the final results here, and feel that having direction really does help one produce something of higher quality.

This is my first poster project. I am not really liking it so much, especially when I had such an interesting idea and image in my head. I wanted to add some skeletons under ground and I probably should have erased "the kiss that bites" because it blows, but....better luck next time, right. The tree was actually kinda fun, I think I might like to work on this in the future. Until then, watch out.

The tree of life is a universally used, spiritual symbol of life its self. It has been found in many cultures across time.
The tree is a symbol of love, wisdom,rebirth, strength, redemption, friendship, bounty and encouragement. It also represents the interconnectedness of all life on our planet.

So these are two of the projects I worked on in lab this week. The first one feels really crazy to me, I don't much like it.
The second Image is much better, it has a more pleasant and appealing quality.
Neither one was planned, they just happened.

In my opinion Michael Parkes creates some of the most interesting magical dreamscape paintings in the world. I love this piece.
What I see:
A juggling magician walking a tight rope while entertaining a young woman perched on a cliff. He's got his cat also walking the rope. It's a beautiful day up above the clouds in the world of dreams...the world of Michael Parkes.

So This was pretty fun....There really are letters everywhere. Take a look.
This is of course a most wonderful way to experience the results of ,"if you change the way you look at things the things you look at change."

I used my phone camera to capture all these images/letters in nature. I found the letters P, H, B, X, U, and R.

I took this photo from about 4ft off the ground, and included the barbed wire for the harsh quality. The light seems to be a bit off, but I like the composition otherwise.

This is an image I did not create, but tells you a little about my interests. I like the way the creator mixed humor and fear together....Although, I don't think GMOs are funny.

Wowwie Zowie...This is a slippery slope.
Pictures + Cut and paste = a really cool piece of art work.
My Food + Cut and Paste = a really flippin scary idea.

What are the ramifications of Genetically Modified foods? I don't know.
Hey I have an idea, lets picture ourselves flying on a jet plane headed to the Philippines, a long flight, when the pilot over the intercom say's "hey guys and gals you have the privilege of being aboard the first flight using a new wing technology...and get this, we have no idea if it will work out or not"
hmmm....I think I'm frightened.

Personal Image ~Go with the Flow~

Okay, what am I doing? What is my goal, do I have a goal?
I think I'll just go with the flow.
It seems that it's easier to just put something down...begin, and the rest will follow.
Have you ever found yourself doodling, and all the sudden you see something new and that becomes the focus of the doodle? By new I mean you didn't have any intention to draw what you begin to see, but you do anyway, and to boot it's really cool...kind of like an epiphany?
Well, I certainly am not suggesting that this piece is representative of that idea, but that's what I was shooting for...If only we could always have the perfect amount of inspiration to lead us to that spark that in turn transforms our meaningless doodle into a work of true love or at least real excitement regarding your vision.

This is an Image I created in DMF Lab 1. I used two photos I took and stacked them. I tweaked the colors in the sky, and added the tall blocks while playing with the fill option, I like them. The final piece has a futuristic cityscape feel. I added the sky shapes in hopes of a sort of alien vibe....maybe it worked.
